The Rhodora:
On Being Asked, Whence Is The Flower?

a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson

IN, May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,
I found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,
Spreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,
To please the desert and the sluggish brook.
The purple petals, fallen in the pool,
This is the Rhadora
Made the black water with their beauty gay;
Here might the redbird come his plumes to cool,
And court the flower that cheapens his array.
Rhodora! if the sages ask thee why
This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,
Tell them, dear, that if eyes were made for seeing,
Then Beauty is its own excuse for being:
Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
I never thought to ask, I never knew;
But, in my simple ignorance, suppose
The selfsame Power that brought me there brought you.

About Me

When I first got the idea for this web site I thought that I had an original brainstorm and that there was nothing like it out there. Now Silvana at her cousin's wedding, 1997 I realize that there are many sites devoted to dreams, but I still hope that some of my ideas are original.

All the interest in dreams is a good thing. It means, hopefully, we are beginning to look at this very important part of ourselves. So let me tell you about myself and the work that we hope to accomplish on these pages. And I hope that we can be to the Internet family -- in regard to dreams -- as the beautiful Rhodora is to the dark side of the woods!

Although aspects of my personal life are not necessarily important in regard to this web site, in order for growth to take place, some self - disclosure is required on all of our parts. It is my hope that as you learn more about the significance of your dream life, you will acquire some new knowledge about yourself. Additionally, you may, at some point, choose to share your dreams with me.

My name is Silvana Ivin-Amar and I am a school psychologist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. My love for dreams began when I was a little girl growing up in a somewhat primitive town, on the tiny island of Ugljan, in a country now known as Croatia. The people were an earthy bunch, who placed as much validity in superstition and folklore as they did in modern medicine. They believed in God and they strongly depended on intuition to guide them through life. They valued their dreams and depended on them for insight into their daily lives and for clues in regard to their future. The woman regularly discussed the content of their dreams and I grew up with the belief that dreams were a real part of our human experience.

Throughout college and graduate school I learned the psychological and physiological significance of dreams. Education expanded my knowledge and helped me to understand the general concept of the "unconscious mind". Via the dream state and our unconscious mind we get clues as to what really "bugs us"; sometimes our desires are revealed to us and we can express our wildest emotions in this private and safe world of dreams.

Unfortunately, psychology alone does not provide me with a deep understanding of who I am. It can not give me the peace of mind that I need in order to live a happy life. Self identity is the key to happiness. By struggling through life I have acquired some wisdom and knowledge and I am firm in the belief that we are all spiritual beings. We are a soul with a body NOT a body with a soul. In our dreams we don't only have the opportunity to look at the mess or the joy of our daily lives, but we also have the opportunity to explore inner worlds which connect us to each other, to mysticism, and to the eternal.

My dream interpretations are multi-faceted; they explore the psychological and the spiritual. I believe that every person needs to pay attention to their dreams and to develop an ability to recognize the value of dreams. I hope that you take the time to read all of the pages on this web site, and not only use the dream dictionary. The dream dictionary provides you with quick answers and is fun, but it is not a very comprehensive look at dreams.

PianoPics.com -- Since January 4th 2001, there is a new addition to DreamLoverInc.  I want to welcome Jean-Claude and PianoPics to my web site.  Jean-Claude is also a dreamer with a vision. The call of the unconscious and his creativity has lead him to develop a simple, but extremely effective method of learning how to play the piano.  Music comes from the soul and the soul responds to music in most intimate ways.  PianoPics and DreamLoverInc. are a natural combination.  I hope that all of my guests visit PianoPics and become familiar with this "visual representation of a musical event."

Peace and happy dreaming,
Silvana Amar
